Bridget has worked in the mental health field for over 25 years, both in the statutory and voluntary sectors. She is the driving force behind Heads Up and has enabled it to grow into a sustainable and dynamic service. Bridget has City and Guilds Level 3 in Community Mental Health, NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and Level 2 in both Leadership and Management and Dementia Awareness. Bridget brings commitment, passion and a wealth of experience to her role as Service Director. She is the recipient of several awards and is known within the field for her outstandingly creative approaches to improving the lives of those living with mental illness.
Gemma has worked in the Mental Health Sector for over 16 years. She has vast experience of managing Supported Housing and Community Outreach services. In addition to completing a range of relevant training courses, she holds a City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Community Mental Health. Gemma manages all the administration needs at Heads Up, including Health and Safety, Human Resources and Media content. She is also Secretary to the Board of Trustees.
Sally is our award-winning Business Manager. Her chief role is identifying the set requirements for both specific courses and core funding, whilst bid-writing for appropriate government and commercial grant applications. Her aim is to ensure the self-sustainability and independence of Heads Up. In 2018, Sally was recognised for her efforts and won an award as part of Somerset Social Entrepreneurs Programme. Sally has a Ba (Hons) degree in Wood, Metal and Ceramics, as well as a PGCE. She has NVQ Level 2 Certificates in Mental Health Awareness and Working in Mental Health and NVQ Level 2 in Dementia Awareness. She runs weekly creative workshops to improve mental wellbeing; something she has been doing for over 35 years.
Mandy has worked for over 16 years in mental health services. This has included adults with learning difficulties and those with dementia. Mandy has a National Diploma in Adult Social Care; City and Guilds Level 3 in Community Mental Health; NVQ Level 2 in Sign Language and NVQ Level 2 in Dementia Awareness. She is also a trained Reminiscence Learning Activity Organiser. Mandy offers vital support to clients, volunteers and staff at Heads Up.
Nick has worked in the Mental Health Sector for over 23 years. He has a City and Guilds Level 2 qualification in Bookkeeping. Nick manages the accounts at Heads Up and is our lead for IT support.
Keith has worked for over 17 years in Statutory and Voluntary Mental Health Services. He has an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Working with Adults with Dementia and has completed Mental Health First Aid training.
Jane has over 30 years’ experience working in the NHS health Care Sector. As a qualified Care Assistant, she has spent much of her career working extensively with dementia patients. Jane successfully manages and co-ordinates our Dementia Workshops with a pool of committed and enthusiastic volunteers. She has a Level 2 qualification in Dementia Care and is a trained Reminiscence Learning Activity Organiser.
Lisa’s life has been completely changed because of pottery and learning, and now she is passionate about using her experience to inspire others. Lisa joined Heads Up as a client, as part of her mental wellbeing recovery programme. She then became a volunteer, where she took advantage of the training opportunities offered to her at Heads Up to gain qualifications: NVQs at Level 2 in Mental Health Awareness, Working with individuals with Learning Disabilities and the Principles of Dementia Care. Lee-Anne has worked in therapeutic horticulture for 5 years. She has an RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture. She has a Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness. She has also completed a course on “Using Social and Therapeutic Horticulture for People with Mental Support Needs” at Thrive. Lee-Anne co-ordinates a range of therapeutic sessions in the Heads Up Healing Garden, including growing seasonal fruit and vegetables. She also co-ordinates a number of community based gardening activities.
Claire joined Heads Up as our Fundraising Officer in July 2018. She has a BSc (Hons) degree in Occupational Therapy and has 18 years’ experience working in both in-patient and community-based mental health settings. Claire provides a link between Heads Up and the community. She supports the establishment of new relationships between businesses, individuals and Heads Up. Claire facilitates the planning and publicity of fundraising events throughout the year.
