Pottery Classes

Tutor: Lisa Hodges

Our Pottery classes are held:   10:30 – 12:30, 1:00 – 3:00, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our Pottery sessions are run in a light, calm workplace.  Beginners will be taught the hand-building techniques they need to make and model in clay.  Examples of pottery pieces, visual aids and books are made available for ideas and inspiration.  People who have never tried anything creative before surprise themselves at the beautiful pieces they are able to make.

A recent study found there are a number of benefits of pottery, which include finding new meaning in life, the promotion of physical and psychological well-being and enhanced opportunities for social interaction.  The organic properties of clay also add to a sense of creative adventure and achievement.

“I have particularly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in the pottery room. Staff are always encouraging. I’ve had the opportunity to develop my skills with no pressure. I feel so fulfilled; my self-worth has definitely grown due to the ‘no pressure’ approach to pottery.”
