Support for Carers

Heads Up Somerset Carers' Support Groups

Heads Up Somerset understands the critical work that carers do for their loved ones. We also understand that they need support too.

Our Carers' Groups meet on a monthly basis in Wells and Wedmore and share experiences over complimentary tea and coffee. Our sessions often have visiting speakers, whilst we are on hand to give advice about where to access information and services, both locally and nationally.

We are always keen to promote good mental health within our carers and wherever possible, we partner with local establishments to offer ‘Pamper Days’ during the year.

Heads Up Connect: Peer Support Group

Being a carer can be a lonely, isolating and sometimes bewildering business. This peer support group hopes to address some of the issues carers face with a mixture of social and information sessions.

This group provides a safe environment where carers can talk about things that they are finding difficult with others who have experienced similar things. There may not be solutions, but they try to help each other in an atmosphere of trust, kindness and friendship.

Carers also have the opportunity to socialise, drink tea/coffee, eat biscuits and generally chat about anything! The group might decide they want to organise a ‘Sunday lunch’ or a trip to some local gardens, watch a film, learn how to crochet etc. Suggestions are welcome.

Outreach and Day Care Services
