Wendy has been a Trustee Director since our inception, and was appointed Chair in 2013. A former employee of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, she was Trustee Director of AstraZeneca’s Pension Fund, then valued at c. £2.5 billion from 1999-2005.
Alan has been a Trustee since 2016. He is a Qualified Accountant, with over 20 years of senior management experience in sales, administration and planning. Alan is responsible for overseeing Health & Safety at Heads Up.
Vanessa has worked in mental health services for over 30 years, encompassing older people, child, adolescent, acute mental health, inpatient and community services.. She was the National Clinical Lead for NHS England Patient Safety for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, until her recent retirement. She now works for NHS England as a clinical reviewer for patients with Learning Disabilities on a part-time basis and runs her own Mental Health First Aid training courses.
Carolle is a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse specialising in patients who experience long term mental health problems. She is very passionate and driven in helping those who need it most. Before retirement, Carolle was Manager of West Mendip Community Mental Health Team. Her many qualifications include Family Therapy, Counselling and Group Work. Carolle has a keen interest in championing and supporting carers, having been one herself.
Philip Welch was editor of the Mid Somerset Series of newspapers and their associated websites from 1997-2013. He is now a Wells City Councillor. He is the Chair of the Mendip Dementia Action Alliance, and member of the Wells Dementia Alliance, as well as the owner of Philip Welch PR Ltd. He is also a freelance photographer, Vice-Chair of Wells Civic Society, a broadcaster on GFM community radio, a director of Wells in Mosaic CIC, an organiser of Wells Soup and an Ambassador to the Wells Girlguiding movement.
John, who has recently retired, was for 40 years a Solicitor at a private practice in Wells. John is an active Rotarian and a member of various local organisations.
